At Plant Products Inc. we value the privacy of our customers and are committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains the practices and policies we follow when interacting with your personal information: why it is collected, how it is collected, how we use it, and how we protect it.

1. Application of Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy applies to all of the information practices of Plant Products and its current and future affiliated companies (collectively, "Plant Products"). It applies to all of Plant Products' business operations, products and services, including:

  • Print and electronic publications published by Plant Products.

  • Marketing material related to Plant Products' products and services.

Plant Products encourages all users of its website to take an active role in protecting their own computers and information, both in engaging our services and it their other online activities. Plant Products is not responsible for the use by third parties and Plant Products employees who have both lawfully and unlawfully obtained individual's data from Plant Products' Website or database.

2. Modification of Privacy Policy

Plant Products reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. Such changes, modifications, additions, or deletions shall be effective immediately upon notice thereof, which will be given by posting the revised Privacy Policy on this page. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and to be aware of any modifications. Your continued use of our site after any such modifications will constitute: (a) your acknowledgment of any modified Privacy Policy; and (b) your agreement to abide and be bound by any modified Policy.

3. Personal Information.

Personal information is all information that is identifiable to an individual or information that permits an individual to be identified. This includes, but is not limited to, the individual's name, home address, IP address, email address, and telephone number. Personal information does not include business contact information, such as name, title, business address and business telephone number when used for business communications. It also does not include non-identifying aggregate information collected on things such as website traffic volume.

4. Non-Personal Information.

Non-personal information may also be collected automatically from the Plant Products Website in the form of web logs. The web logs are used to analyze anonymous behavior on the Plant Products Website for the purposes of improving Plant Products' products and services. On occasion aggregate statistics will be provided to reputable third-party companies, but these statistics will contain no personally identifiable information.

5. Collection of Personal Information.

Personal information will be collected, used, stored and disclosed by Plant Products, electronically or otherwise, only with the knowledge and consent of the individual to whom it relates. We typically collect your personal information with your consent when you fill out our web registration form, call a sales or support associate, or purchase our products and services. At times, however, personal information is obtained from other sources, such as government bodies or third parties, but only as permitted by law. As appropriate, Plant Products will ask for specific consent to collect, use, store and disclose personal information. This may be in writing or orally. In some cases, consent can be implied through an individual relationship or conduct with Plant Products.

The purpose of collecting personal information will be expressly stated by Plant Products whenever solicited, and will not be used for purposes other than those stated. Where the purpose for the collection of personal information is unclear, you can ask the Plant Products representative with whom you are dealing to provide an explanation of the purpose for the data collection.

Personal information, other than an IP address, will never be collected automatically. Internet use requires information exchange between the website host and the visitor; such information generally cannot identify an individual and falls outside the scope of personal information. The notable exception is a visitor's IP address. An IP address cannot directly identify an individual and Plant Products will not attempt to link an automatically collected IP address to an individual, except as may be required or permitted by law. Each visitor's IP address will otherwise be treated as personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

6. Registration and Cookies.

An individual may be required to register on the Plant Products Website to gain access to our content. A registrant is normally required to supply personal information when creating his or her account. After registration, a small file (commonly called a "cookie") is created and stored on the registrant's computer to: (a) maintain access to content; and (b) facilitate the use of the Website through bypass of the sign-in process for successive visits. The use of cookies is an industry standard used by many websites.

Cookies do not allow Plant Products to access your hard drive. They do not permit Plant Products to do anything to your computer. Should you not wish to have cookies stored on your computer, they may generally by disabled through your web browser's tools or options. Be advised, however, that without cookies the speed and facility with which you access our online resources may be significantly impaired.

7. Use of Personal Information.

Personal information collected by Plant Products for the following express purposes:

  • To fulfill your subscription request to Plant Products Website.

  • To ensure that you qualify to receive access to the Plant Products Website or publications.

  • To contact you regarding your registration in order to verify the information supplied by you and to allow you to make changes to your information. Contact may be made via email, mail, fax or telephone.

  • To respond to sales inquiries, to determine which of its products are most useful, and for survey purposes.

  • To inform you of new products, services or information related to Plant Products or to the industry.

  • To provide products and services to you from time to time.

  • To maintain our relationship with you including, without limitation, communicating with you from time to time as required and maintaining mailing lists. Plant Products only collects personal information as required to meet the purposes that have been identified. At no time shall consent to collect, use, store, and/or disclose personal information be a condition for supplying a product or service, unless the information requested is required to fulfill an explicitly specified and legitimate purpose.

We do not indiscriminately collect or retain information. Plant Products may from time to time and at its sole discretion modify the purposes for collecting personal information. All such modifications shall be reflected in this Privacy Policy and shall be effective as of the date posted.

8. Dissemination of Personal Information.

Plant Products may transfer personal information collected to its current and future affiliates to enable them to fulfill the above-listed purposes.

Personal information obtained by Plant Products will not be shared with third parties except as permitted or required by law and/or unless the actual or implied consent of the person to whom the personal information applies is obtained beforehand. Plant Products uses third party service providers from time to time to carry out certain functions necessary for your requested services. You hereby consent to disclosure of your personal information to such service providers.

Except with your actual or implied consent, or as may be permitted or required by law, we will not sell or distribute your personal information outside of Plant Products.

9. Security.

Personal information collected from the Plant Products Website is always collected on a secure web server using 128-bit encryption. Personal information is safeguarded on Plant Products servers in the Province of Ontario. Access to the personal information on Plant Products servers is protected by the use of a security system, a firewall, passwords, and in some cases encryption.

10. Retention of Personal Information.

Personal information that is no longer being used for the reasons stated upon collection is deleted from our databases after five years.

11. Access to and Accuracy of Collected Personal Information

You have the right of access to, and the right to correct, your collected personal information. To access or change your personal information please contact our Chief Privacy Officer as described in the below Section 13. You can exercise these rights on request and free of charge. If there is an ancillary cost required to produce your request, Plant Products shall notify you of such upon receipt of your request. Plant Products reserves the right to confirm your identity before complying with any request to access your personal information.

Plant Products will from time to time, on its own initiative or immediately upon receipt of an individual's request, rectify or erase any incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated personal information.

12. Revocation of Consent and Opting Out.

You may, at any time, revoke your consent to the collection of your personal information. You may exercise this right by contacting Plant Products' Chief Privacy Officer at the address shown in Section 13 below.

You may, at any time, opt out of receiving any Plant Products email newsletters or emails from Plant Products which inform about new products, services, or information related to the industry. In compliance with new legislation regulating Commercial Electronic Messages, you may so "opt out" by so indicating at the time that information is being given to Plant Products or by following the simple process prominently displayed in all such emails distributed by Plant Products.

13. Accountability.

Plant Products acknowledges that it is responsible for the personal information under its control. Plant Products has appointed a Chief Privacy Officer to administer this Privacy Policy and to be accountable for our handling of your personal information.
